A Guesthouse is really just a larger version of a Bed & Breakfast. It needs needs to have a minimum of five bedrooms, a dedicated shared guest lounge and a dining area. It may offer other special touches like a library or restaurant. Technically, in a Guesthouse the hosts and guests stay in the same building but have separate living areas. Breakfast and dinner may be available but not necessarily prepared and served by the host, or included in the tariff.
The table below provides a guide to the absolute minimum a Guesthouse must offer to achieve the required STAR Rating. Many Guesthouses exceed this basic description and offer other facilities and services that are not listed here. Each STAR Rating level must include all listed requirements of lower levels.
