Tourist/Caravan Park

Tourist/Caravan Parks usually have spacious grounds where you can hitch a caravan or pitch a tent to a powered or unpowered site. They will have recreational facilities, play equipment, park gardens and landscaping. Showers, toilets, laundry and cooking facilities are shared in a common amenities area. At the other end of the scale, Parks can be basic camping areas with pit-toilets - often part of a National Park.

The table below provides a guide to the absolute minimum a Tourist/Caravan Park must offer to achieve the required STAR Rating. Many Parks exceed this basic description and offer other facilities and services that are not listed here. Each STAR Rating level must include all listed requirements of lower levels.

	Very well appointed tourist parks reflecting a high standard of facilities and guest services such as pool, BBQ and recreation room
	Well appointed tourist parks providing a good range of guest facilities and services
	Basic tourist parks providing a more simple, but reasonably well maintained range of facilities
	Very simple no-frills style tourist park with limited facilities for the self sufficient traveller

A half STAR is awarded to properties that provide a more extensive range of facilities

Tourist Park Accommodation

Park Accommodation refers to cabins, villas or units located within the grounds of a Tourist Park. It usually means semi portable dwellings offering guests a self-contained sole occupancy consisting of one or more bedrooms or suites and a dining area with cooking facilities. Ensuite park cabins have a private shower and toilet.

	Well appointed and comfortable park accommodation with a good range of facilities including private bathroom
	Basic park accommodation with clean and reasonably well maintained range of facilities including cooking facilities
	Very simple and clean, no-frills style park accommodation with cooking facilities
